Saying goodbye shouldn't be stressful....

At Torvik Veterinary Services we believe that your pet should be comfortable and at ease during the transition over the rainbow bridge.

What To Expect During a Euthanasia Appointment

During your appointment your veterinarian and support staff will begin by introducing themselves and walk you through the euthanasia process
  • Owners are strongly encouraged to be present for their pet during the whole process, but rest assured that we will treat your pet with love and dignity if you do not wish to be present during the procedure.
Your veterinarian will start by administering a mild sedative to your pet. This ensures that your pet will be sleepy and relaxed during the procedure. Sedation can take 5-10 minutes to take full effect. This gives you and your family time to spend time with your pet.

Once your pet is sleepy and resting comfortably your veterinarian will administer the euthanasia solution. This injection is painless and allows most pets to pass within 30 seconds - 2 minutes of administration.

Once your veterinarian has confirmed that the pet has passed, you are able to decide what you would like to do with your pets remains. We offer both private and communal cremation options, however you can choose to bury your pet at home if you would like to.

Please feel free to call and discuss your options with one of our compassionate staff members today.
